Dear Wessex Community / Estimada Comunidad del Wessex,

Although it was a short week, it has certainly been a busy one.

On Wednesday, we launched our Wessex Values for July and August: Responsibility and Autonomy. These are two important values that encourage our pupils to take ownership of their learning and their actions, both inside and outside the classroom.

Last Friday, I also held an end-of-week assembly with the Senior School, as I wanted to address some concerns I have regarding the general reports I have been receiving about poor manners and inappropriate conduct. It was important to make my expectations clear and to reaffirm that courtesy, respect and kindness towards others are fundamental values within our school community. This week also marked the beginning of our consejos, as teachers prepare reports and discuss each pupil’s progress.

Also on Wednesday, our second FIFE-VIVE Tournament, organised and sponsored by our Centro de Alumnos, took place. It was wonderful to see another successful event, with so many Senior School pupils participating in healthy competition while demonstrating great enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Congratulations to everyone involved in organising and participating.

On Thursday, I had the opportunity to meet with our Senior 6 pupils. I was especially interested in hearing about their work experience placements from last week. It was encouraging to listen to their reflections, and I know that many are looking forward to further opportunities. We hope to continue developing this aspect of the programme.

Today, Friday, was another busy day across the school. We enjoyed assemblies with Junior 5B and Senior 1A, in addition to one of our Infant School assemblies. We also held jornadas with Junior 2B and Senior 4C, providing valuable opportunities for reflection and community building.

Looking ahead to next week, we have a number of exciting activities planned. I would particularly like to highlight that, on Wednesday, we will welcome representatives from Transforma University, an organisation that coordinates science-based educational camps in Boston, USA. Our Senior 4 and Senior 5 pupils will participate in a workshop during the school day, and in the evening there will be an online information meeting for parents who would like to learn more about these opportunities.
