Dear Wessex Community,

As we come to the end of another busy week, I want to thank each of you for your hard work and commitment. I’ve spent a great deal of time around the school again this week, and once again I’ve been encouraged by what I’ve seen.

Despite the change in the weather, attendance has remained strong, pupils have continued to arrive well prepared, and there has been a positive atmosphere across the school. The colder, wetter conditions can sometimes make the day more challenging, so I want to thank everyone for helping to ensure that our pupils continue to feel warm, safe, and ready to learn. Looking at the forecast, it seems the wet weather will continue next week, so let’s keep up that excellent work.

There also continues to be a noticeable improvement in the way our pupils greet adults, make eye contact, and respond with a cheerful «Good morning.» These may seem like small things, but they are the foundations of the respectful and welcoming culture we are building together. Thank you for reinforcing these expectations every day.

Looking ahead to next week, please remember that Wednesday, 15th July, will be a shortened school day to allow for our extended Consejos. The Infant School will finish at 12:00 noon, while Junior and Senior School pupils will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m., enabling teaching staff to begin the Consejos during the afternoon.

Thursday, 16th July, is the public holiday of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and Friday will be a Personal Formación Day without pupils. I hope everyone enjoys the opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend time with family and friends.

Please also note that we officially conclude the first academic semester this Friday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back as we begin the second academic semester on Monday, 20th July.

For your forward planning, please also note that Wednesday, 22nd July, will be a pupil-free day to allow for the preparation and delivery of reports.

I would also like to express a special thank you to the Transforma University team for delivering the Boston & Student Life Program workshop. This valuable opportunity allowed our pupils to learn more about international academic pathways and university life experiences. We sincerely appreciate the time, dedication, and warmth with which the team shared this experience with our community, helping to broaden the horizons and aspirations of our pupils.

Finally, a couple of good luck messages. Due to a late change to the calendar, our senior pupils taking part in the Intercambio at Colegio Vichuquén in Curicó will now be travelling this Friday and Saturday, rather than on the 24th and 25th as originally planned. We wish them a fantastic experience and safe travels.

Best of luck as well to everyone representing Wessex in Saturday’s triangular football fixtures against Concepción AB, weather permitting. We hope you enjoy the day and do the school proud.
