Viernes 04 de Septiembre
Dear Wessex Community,
As we reach the end of the second trimester, I would like to begin by sharing this month’s Action for Happiness calendar: Self-Care September. I think it is a particularly appropriate theme as we head into our break — a reminder that looking after ourselves, slowing down and making time for the things and people that matter are important parts of our wellbeing.

I also want to congratulate all our pupils on what has been an outstanding Fiestas Patrias week at Wessex. There has been such a positive atmosphere around the School, and it has been wonderful to see our pupils performing on stage, dancing, participating in competitions and generally embracing the spirit of this very special time of year.
What I have enjoyed most has been seeing the whole School involved, from our youngest pupils in Infants all the way through to Senior 6.
A particular highlight for me was our opening assembly on the cancha, when we were able to bring the entire School together. Seeing our Infants perform alongside our older pupils was a lovely representation of Wessex as one community. For our Senior 6 pupils, of course, this Fiestas Patrias has particular significance. Their final dance with their parents was a very special moment and another reminder that they are now experiencing many of their “lasts” as Wessex pupils.
This is always one of my favourite times of the year. It is not simply because spring is arriving — or because the clocks change this coming Sunday, so don’t forget! — but because September seems to bring out something very special in Chile. The traditions, music, dancing, food and celebrations reflect a sense of culture and national pride that is wonderful to experience.
As we finish the trimester, I also recognise that there have been some testing moments along the way. Nevertheless, there has also been an enormous amount to celebrate, and I have prepared a more comprehensive report reflecting on the trimester and some of the work taking place across the School.

For now, however, my main message is simply to wish all our pupils, families and staff a wonderful and well-deserved break. I hope you enjoy the celebrations of Dieciocho, spend time with family and friends, and find some opportunities to rest, recharge and enjoy the beginning of spring.
Monday 21 September will be a staff training day. Our Junior 6 pupils will also be in School that day as they prepare for their week at Pellines.
For everyone else, I look forward to welcoming you back to Wessex on Tuesday 22 September, rested and ready for a positive and exciting final trimester of 2026.
Have a wonderful break and ¡Felices Fiestas Patrias!
Best wishes,
