Dear Wessex Community,
It has been another exceptionally busy week at Wessex, with English Week bringing a wonderful range of activities, performances and opportunities for our pupils to celebrate their learning.
On Tuesday, we welcomed pupils from Wessex Chillán for our Junior Spelling Bee. The event was expertly organised and it was wonderful to see the children so engaged, enthusiastic and confident in their use of English.
Wednesday was particularly busy. Our Senior 2 pupils performed plays for the Junior School during the day, before later presenting their performances to parents in the Infant School. It was great to see our pupils taking to the stage and sharing their English through drama with different audiences.
Wednesday afternoon also saw our Senior pupils participating in the FIFA Vive event. My thanks go in particular to our Junior teachers who supported and supervised the event, helping to make it an enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved.
Thursday was, of course, a particularly significant day for our community as we marked the first anniversary of Mr. Martin’s passing. Our pupils looked resplendent in their full school uniform as we came together at different moments throughout the day for a minute’s silence and commemorative assemblies. It was a fitting opportunity to remember Mr. Martin, his contribution to Wessex and the values he left with our community.
I am especially grateful to the English Department, to our invited guests and to everyone who contributed to making Thursday such a meaningful and special day for the school.
English Week culminated on Friday with some wonderful presentations from our pupils, showcasing both their English and their understanding of British culture. The enthusiasm, creativity and effort on display helped create a genuinely festive atmosphere and provided a fitting conclusion to a very successful week.
My congratulations to the English Department for all the work that went into organising the week, and particularly to our pupils for their positive engagement and the wonderful work they produced.
Looking ahead, next Thursday will be a Colour Day to raise funds for Senior 6. We also have a huge weekend of sport ahead, with many of our 5° and 6° Básico pupils travelling to Viña del Mar and Santiago to participate in football and volleyball festivals.
I wish all our pupils travelling and competing a successful and enjoyable weekend of sport, and I wish the entire Wessex community a lovely and restful weekend.
Warm regards,
